The Grand Ballroom of the Rittenhouse Hotel set the stage for the wedding reception of Jim & Agnes Alonso. Jim & Agnes made it a point to come out to see Philly Horn Band while we performed at the Media Food Fair some number of months before their wedding. It is an especially warm feeling for us when our brides & grooms take the opportunity to join us at a performance and gives us a special opportunity to express our appreciation for them as well.

An interesting feature of  the reception was the Polish wedding traditions that were joyously celebrated by family and friends.  Clearly its a tradition of strong roots and great significance and was very enjoyable.

The elegance of the Rittenhouse Hotel Grand Ballroom  and the events of the wedding reception were captured by Video One Productions. We would like to thank Tim Sudall for his outstanding attention to detail as always.

We would also like to thank,  Alison Crain Bruce Mollin, Director of Banquets, for the hospitality of the hotel.

Thank you Jim & Agnes for allowing Philly Horn Band to be part of your wedding day

The Philly Horn Band truck generated the usual beeps, waves and smiles as it traveled up the highway to the East Mountain Inn in Wilkes Barre Pa.for the wedding reception of Terrance & Mary Dougherty. Thanks to the hospitality of the hotel, a lively bridal party, and terrific family and friends of the bride and groom it was a hot time on a cold January night.

Cake fight !
Yes, they started off quite nicely but the gleam in each others eye soon became undeniable as each considered giving the other a little cake in the mug. It could not have been more fun for both after a little cleanup and returning to party the night away with their guests.

Our congratulations and gratitude to Terrance & Mary for allowing Philly Horn Band to be part of their wedding day.

Northeast Pennsylvania we’ll see you again real soon!

“An Evening with Philly Horn Band”

If you weren’t there, I don’t know what you were thinking as the beautiful bucolic setting of the Edgmont Country Club was the scene to members and non members alike for “An Evening with Philly Horn Band.” Heaven only knows you missed a wonderful cocktail hour with Hor D’Ouevres and 1 hour open bar and a bountiful buffet that followed immediately. All of that before Philly Horn Band took the stage to jam. Before the music and dancing the crowd was treated to the Philly Horn Band “Name That Tune” Game Show. The Game Show was an extraordinarily funny and fun addition to the evening and the audience became the stars of the show as everyone laughed and sang their way through the intoxicating songs that you love to remember. The band took over after the game show and danced the crowd well into the evening. Photographs were captured by Richard Barnes and video was captured by Tim Sudall, Video One Productions. Thanks Pam and Annie for the wonderful hospitality and PHB is thrilled to play any event that you host. See you soon!

Bedwell / Shattuck Wedding - Rittenhouse Nothing captured the success of the evening like the genuine smile of happiness and joy on the face of our beautiful bride Ashley at the Rittenhouse Hotel. Her smile in all of its glory is captured for the world to see thanks to Mike Kehr Photography. A great rendition of “Ants Marching” a Dave Matthews hit sung by the brother of the bride with Philly Horn Band got things rolling as the Rittenhouse Grand Ballroom and their outstanding staff played center stage for the reception of Ashley Bedwell and Brian Shattuck. The video work in the more than capable hands of Video One Productions was guaranteed to be a vivid recreation of the events of this marvelous evening. A great time was had by all and the band is ultimately grateful for your wonderful comments and testimonials. We were happy to be part of your wedding evening!

Woody – Konar The astonishing atrium and beautifully dramatic cathedral lighting of the Curtis Center in center city Philadelphia was the backdrop of the Woody-Konar wedding reception. The bride and groom and the bridal party were in on the gag as beautiful bride Deidre and her dad had the band fake everyone out with “Butterfly Kisses” only to blast into “Shout” after a few sappy bars of the former. It was a specially warm and memorable evening for me with the attendance of the Carrie and the Leone family. They are special and beloved friends from the Scranton / Wilkes Barre Pa area. The entire wedding was fired up right from the beginning and ready to party. We had a memorable time as well as all of you thanks to your kindness and hospitality. Ross and Deidre ended the reception with a traditional Scottish poem and Auld Lang Syne to cap the evening. Best wishes to a great couple and to our special friends of theirs too. See you soon!

Riddle Man O’ War Gala

Springfield Country Club played host to the 51st Man O’ War Gala. It’s hard to imagine how the Associated Auxiliaries of Riddle Hospital manage to outdo themselves year after year. This year the annual gala honored the “The Family of John S. McManus Inc.

Riddle Hospital and John S. McManus, Inc. have enjoyed a wonderful relationship that has spanned over 30 years. The Silent Auction and dinner was of course followed by a packed dance floor grooving to the sounds of Philly Horn Band. The band certainly enjoyed partying with the familiar and new faces among the attendees of the gala. Thanks to Riddle’s community of friends, employees, medical staff, and businesses for their dedication and support of this noteworthy event. Photography was provided by Jayne Killoran Toohey of 2E Photography. Special thanks to the Gala Committee for allowing Philly Horn Band the honor of providing the musical entertainment for the evening. See you soon!

Philly Horn Band at Penn State Alumni Ball

Philly Horn Band at Penn State Alumni Ball

Philly Horn Band was delighted to join Susan Barnett, CBS3 anchor, to co host the Penn State Brandywine campaign “For The Future” (An Evening to Celebrate Achievement and Opportunity). The new and exciting Please Touch Museum located in beautiful Fairmount Park in Philadelphia provided a festive and spirited backdrop for another successful and exciting event.

Susan doubled as host and auctioneer while Philly Horn Band provided the musical punch for everyone to bid generously and party hardy for another outstanding annual event.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Penn State Brandywine Event Committee for inviting us. A special thanks to Susan Barnett for making our evening a memorable one. Photography was provided by the extraordinary cameraman Melvin Epps. Melvin doesn’t move the camera around the floor. He moves the floor around the camera! We would like to say “thanks” to Laurie Lindsey and her great staff at the Please Touch Museum for their hospitality. We can only hope that you guys liked us nearly as much as we liked you. See you soon!
